Double Slit Skirt

Plaid Skirt

Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a nice, warm and relaxing weekend. I spent most of my weekend helping my sister out with her event blog ‘Lets Mingle’. If anyone knows my sister, you know she’s a party planning guru! So if you are event planning handicapped (like myself), I highly encourage you all to check out her blog and get some of the cutest ideas and tips for everything party related. It’s also nice seeing a completely different side of blogging and comparing ideas with each other.

Lately, I haven’t been spending too much money on clothing while I try to stick to my New Year’s resolution goals and have been utilizing items that I rarely wear, or haven’t worn at all. Last week, however, I got to wear this double slit skirt that had been waiting for a moment. With the warm weather we are currently experiencing in the Salt Lake valley, I couldn’t help but take it out for a spin. It’s interesting how double slit skirts, in midis and maxi styles, have come full circle from being out of style to back in again, after only a few years. Personally, I find a high slit extremely edgy and classy if done correctly, while adding the perfect feminine touch to what would be an ordinary skirt.

Be sure to check out all of my favorite double slit skirts and even single slit skirts just in time for spring. Just check the forecast for wind and avoid having a Marilyn moment, I clearly learned my lesson…

Pleather and Plaid

Plaid Shirt Around the Waist

As spring seems to be arriving at a rapid pace, I am having a slight panic attack giving up some of my favorite leather items, like my new patent leather jacket, the no fail “goes with everything” leather leggings I live in throughout the cold months, and my thigh high boots.

Luckily, tucked back in the depths of my closet, I found this pleather gem. This pleather (some prefer to use the term faux) skater skirt gives me hope of wearing leather, even in the warmer months, and makes me feel ok about the two leather pencil skirts that I just picked up from Zara and can’t wait to wear.

I’ve also had a strange obsession with pairing skirts with big chunky ankle boots. I have been so inspired by the looks on my pinterest page, alas when summer hits, my ankle boots will probably find their way to the back of the closet where I found my skirt…

Spring Uniform

Blue Blazer

As you have probably noticed, there has been slight repetition happening in my closet. This spring, I have realized that I have quite the “go-to” look that is so universal it pairs well with multitudes of items in my wardrobe.

My spring wardrobe has consisted of a variety of blazers and shorts, something so effortless, yet completely simple and chic. You can dress it up or down but this spring uniform pairing really is a no brainer. Worn in my post on Monday, with windowpane shorts and a graphic tee, I displayed a more “going out” look. Today I wanted to bring a more laid back way to wear this simple staple.

Will you try out this pairing for the upcoming season? How will you wear it?
