Sporty Sweater Dress

Black Sweater Dress

Dresses are usually associated with being ultra feminine. One thing I’ve never understood is why so many women find menswear so extremely popular and have shunned dresses for a more business professional look. Dresses don’t always have to have bows and sequins. We can still master the art of casual sportswear with a simple sporty dress.

Every time I put a dress on, I am reminded about how simple and comfortable they are. In most cases, dresses are a simple one item outfit that you can dress completely to your personality. That is probably why I gravitated towards this sporty dress that I scored at the Piperlime sale after Christmas. Something as simple as a black sweater dress was the perfect weekend outfit choice along with a pair of my favorite New Balance sneakers.

In advance, I want to apologize for my lack of blogging last week. As some of you may know, I attended Altitude Summit (Alt Summit) here in Salt Lake City. I had extremely high hopes of blogging while at the conference, but alas, the wi-fi was not as reliable as expected…

I can’t wait to share everything that I learned with you, so look for that in the next week or two! I did however get to wear one of my favorite blazers. This leopard number provided a fun pop to my all black outfit on day one of the conference. It was also a great spark of conversation between me and some fellow bloggers, about how we agree that leopard print is just as neutral as our favorite classic shades of black, white and grey. Whether you choose to wear booties, flats, a handbag or belt, topping off a fully monochromatic look with a fun print, leopard in specific, can make anything that’s ordinary, a little bit more extraordinary.

Do you ever have that one find that you have searched literally everywhere for? That perfect item that either is never in your size or the exact style you want, but you are on a mission to find the exact product and it haunts you on the regular? Well, as strange as it is, this Toronto Maple Leaf’s jersey has been on my lust list for years. I love the idea of sporting you favorite team, while still feeling feminine and comfortable. They easily make a pencil skirt more casual and a pair of jeans, with some thigh highs, a little more edgy. Living in Utah, you don’t come across many Toronto jerseys, let alone hockey jerseys, so once I found the perfect jersey, that actually fit well, (TIP: opt for children’s sizes for a better fit) it was love. Jerseys aren’t just for boys anymore…

After Christmas I was surprised with one of the best gifts ever. Earlier that week my sister encouraged me to enter in an Instagram contest to win a ticket to the Altitude Summit Conference for bloggers and brands. Not thinking much about it, I entered. Come to find out I ACTUALLY WON. I was 1 out of 10 lucky entrees to win a ticket to the conference next week.

Wednesday, I attended a local lunch meet up to get to know some of the Utah residents that were attending the conference. It always blows my mind how large the blogging community is here in Utah. Having a specific blogging niche (such as fashion blogging) may clump you into a catagory, but its great talking to like minded women who although have different content, have the same overall goal.

I couldn’t be more excited to attend Alt next week and share all the fun details from my first blog conference experience!
